HOS Proposed Rule Change
On March 29, 2019, the Department of Transportation (DOT) sent a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to the Office of Management and Budget regarding reforming the hours-of-service regulations.
Although the details of the notice are not yet public, the FMCSA published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on August 23, 2018. This ANPRM includes proposals on expanding the “shorthaul” exemption from 12 hours on-duty to 14 hours on-duty and a provision on the 30-minute break after eight hours.
2019 CVSA Roadcheck: Steering and Suspension
This year’s annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance International Roadcheck will be held on June 4-6.
The 72-hour long period of roadchecks will focus on steering and suspension system violations because these are safety-critical systems for all commercial motor vehicles.
Seminar Recap: Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine and Inspection Trends & DOT Updates
On April 5, Dana Rhodes of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Kevin Stewart of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association spoke to guests about complying with the upcoming Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine and news regarding regulatory changes in transportation.

Fundamental created a driver training module that all the drivers who work for us will complete this month. This training includes basic information that drivers should know if they will be working in the quarantine zone at any point.
Note that at least one person from your company, a manager or supervisor, has to be certified in order to obtain permits. However, it’s also important for your drivers to understand the quarantine and how to comply.
