The Benefits of Stretching

As a truck driver, you should consider adding stretching into your daily routine. There are many benefits to stretching, such as it keeps your muscles strong and healthy, keeps you flexible, helps prevent injuries like strains, joint pain, and muscle damage, and increased blood flow through your body. Truck drivers should especially focus on stretching the following areas:

  • Lower wrist
  • Upper wrist
  • Shoulder and neck
  • Upper arm and shoulder
  • Upper chest and neck
  • Back of legs and lower back
  • Hips
  • Shoulder front and upper arm
  • Thighs
Please refer to the April 2022 Monthly Training Assignment in Luma for specific stretches that you can implement into your daily driving routine.

G.O.A.L

G.O.A.L. stands for “Get Out And Look” and applies to truckers whenever they are backing in a trailer. It implies that the trucker observes all six sides of the truck (front and rear, left and right sides, and above and below for clearance) and physically gets out of the vehicle to look at the area around them before making any decisions. Make sure that you are utilizing G.O.A.L. to ensure that you are keeping yourself and those around you safe at all times.
